About the A Level Politics Exam Dates
These A Level Politics Exam Dates have been set and finalised by the exam boards and the regulator Ofqual. It’s important to note that Paper 1 for both exam boards is the only paper before half term, meaning you’ll have extra time to revise for Papers 2 and 3 during the half term break.
One thing to consider when revising for your exams is to remember your synoptic links. For AQA students, the 25-mark essays all require synoptic links, so you need to have a strong knowledge of all areas of the course for all three papers. For Edexcel students, there are specific requirements for synoptic links to Paper 1 in Papers 2 and 3, so make sure that once the first paper is complete you don’t push all that content to the back of your mind. You’ll need to refer to UK Politics and Core Political Ideas in the last two papers.
If you need more support about synoptic links, check out the Synoptic Links resources in our Revision Tools.
Making the most of revision time
This year the A Level Politics Exam Dates have been set later in the exam series, meaning you have more time to prepare for them in advance. We would recommend your first action being to create a revision timetable, using an app such as Adapt. These revision timetables mean you can plan out exactly when you will revise for each of your subjects. The best method to follow is to prepare for the hardest or your least favourite topics first, and then work towards your more favourable topics towards the exam.
One thing that many of the Study Politics team were guilty of during their revision time was taking lots of time preparing a revision timetable, only not to follow it when revision time came. Make sure you don’t fall into this trap!
More Resources
The first place to go is the individual exam board websites to check out the exam dates for your other subjects. The AQA exam timetable is here, and here is the Edexcel exam timetable. This will allow you to see when your remaining exams are, and check for any potential clashes or heavy days to prepare for.
You should also check out the Study Politics Revision Tools, which include key word portfolios to ensure you have a strong knowledge of core concepts within the course. We also have revision checklists, which break down the entire course into manageable chunks for you to revise with.
